At Parish, our Upper School students are empowered with a diverse range of resources to prepare for the upcoming academic year, excel in significant tests, and explore post-Parish opportunities.
During the summer, The Academy at Parish offers a wide range of For-Credit courses that help students fulfill their graduation requirements, advance in the curriculum, and explore unique learning experiences. We also provide a comprehensive array of preparatory academic camps, addressing Math, English (both reading and writing), Science, Spanish, as well as essential skills such as Executive Functioning and Speed Reading. Throughout the school year, The Academy offers targeted study sessions for Midterms and Finals, along with SAT and ACT test preparation classes. Additionally, in collaboration with Parish faculty and programs, we continuously innovate new opportunities to fulfill community service requirements, career explorations across various fields, and much more.
Test Prep
SAT Prep
Prepare for the March 8th SAT at Parish with More Than A Teacher’s expert-led prep series! This program includes eight classes and a practice test, equipping students with practical strategies to boost their confidence and performance on test day. The course focuses on maximizing scores through long-term preparation and repeated practice, while also providing insight into the redesigned SAT and valuable skills for standardized testing success. ACT Prep
Boost your confidence and scores with More Than A Teacher’s ACT prep series at Parish! This course emphasizes practical strategies that students can easily apply on test day, minimizing the need for extensive long-term prep or repeat testing.
Each class is tailored to a specific test date, with consistent content and structure across sessions. To maximize success, we recommend aligning your prep with the April 5th ACT test date. Don’t miss this chance to achieve your best results!
Preparing for Your Future
Speed Reading
This course is tailored to students enrolling in AP classes. This specialized program is designed to enhance your reading efficiency, stamina, and time management – essential components for success in AP coursework. We will cover the principles of speed reading, optimize your current reading strategies, and apply speed reading techniques to dense and complex AP texts. By the end of this course, students will not only have increased their reading speed but will also have developed valuable skills for information processing, critical thinking, and effective time management. Empower yourself with the ability to absorb information quickly and efficiently, setting the stage for academic success and a lifelong love of reading!
Students can choose between a 6-hour crash course on the basics of Speed Reading or an 18-hour course that provides comprehensive instruction. Instruction is one-on-one and scheduled by the students during Block 2, lunch and flex, or Block 3 of the school day.

For Credit Courses
Since the summer of 2012, Parish Episcopal School has been offering summer courses for our Upper School students to help them fulfill their graduation requirements, get ahead in the curriculum, and explore unique learning opportunities. Our mission is to provide our students with highly flexible course schedules that allows them to navigate summer courses alongside their travels, extracurriculars, employment, and other summer activities. Summer after summer, our students praise the care and communication of our summer instructors and express gratitude for these offerings, which allow them to pursue their other interests and maximize their course loads during the school year.
