What happens at Summer Day Camp?

Do you ask your child what they did at camp today and hear “I don’t know” in response? We know you love seeing pictures on our social media accounts so you can learn what your camper is doing while they are here. To help you envision the day, we’ve got some details below.

7:30 EXTENDED CARE & DROP OFF: Each camper is assisted out of the car and greeted by our friendly counselors. There is a quick check-in before we gather everyone together and head off to classrooms, but for an authentic camp experience we call them cabins. The cabin is where the fun begins!

9:00 MORNING: We don’t waste any time and jump right into age-appropriate hands-on activities that range from science experiments to art projects to games to outdoor play. Campers will have some down time and free play as well. The activities available on any given day could include STEM or Maker activities designed by Parish STEM faculty members, art projects, outdoor activities ranging from bubbles to sports, indoor fun including construction, board games, and dancing. Each cabin has an age-appropriate game room and additional rooms for special activities, so while a cabin room is home base, it is never boring. We encourage campers to find what appeals to them within our schedule each day. As a bonus, each Wednesday, campers will enjoy a newly expanded water day, including giant water slides for K-7th and other water activities such as sprinklers and slip and slides and outdoor play. PreK will enjoy bounce houses and water table play. On Fridays, campers of all ages will say farewell to another fun week of Day Camp with our new Friday Field Day where we will play games and enjoy outdoor activities.

12:00 CARPOOL AND LUNCH: At noon some campers go to carpool and the rest go to lunch. Lunch is held in the school’s cafeteria for everyone other than PreK campers, who eat in their cabins.

12:30 AFTERNOON: After lunch we get back to fun – campers return to their cabins and game rooms and have fun with new activities and recess time. PreK campers will take a brief nap before beginning their afternoon activities.  On Wednesdays, campers will visit the waterslides, play games on the fields and enjoy Kona Ice treats. Each Thursday the 4th-7th grade campers go on a fun field trip.  Destinations include Top Golf, Farmers Branch Aquatic Center and Electric Gamebox.  On Fridays we say farewell to another fun week of Day Camp by enjoying the newly designed Friday Field Day, where all campers play fun games and enjoy friendly competition with their own grade level camp friends. At the end of the week we award the Cabin of the Week to our most collaborative and cooperative group for the week.

3:30 CARPOOL AND EXTENDED CARE: Some campers go home and others stay with us a bit longer. For campers who stay in Extended Care, we play on the playground or in the activity room, and have free choice of cabin games and toys.

So, when you see the smiles as your camper laughs and says goodbye to their friends – know they had a busy, fun-filled day – they just may not tell you about it.

Keep up with all the summer camp fun! 🌞
