This course discusses the various aspects of sports medicine and what it takes to keep athletes safe and on the field.
Students will learn about athletic training, different types of injuries, athlete safety, concussions, nutrition, and more. There may be opportunities for on field observations during the course. This is a one trimester course which counts .333 credits toward Parish graduation requirements, and it fulfills 1/3 of the Athletics Graduation requirement.
Dates & Times
Students are required to attend in-person a mandatory orientation class plus an additional three classes of the six scheduled sessions. Students are encouraged to attend all classes that are offered. A possible field trip in early August is being planned. The instructor will reach out to registered students with details. Classes require attendance to Parish’s Midway Campus.
