In this reading and writing class, we will read many mentor texts, and students will be asked to write responses based on these texts.
Following the writing workshop model, the students will engage in many types of writing including persuasive and personal narrative. In reading, we will find “good fit” books at our individual reading level, and work on strategies to become more fluent readers. The instruction will be tailored to each student’s strengths and needs. Students will participate in whole group, small group, and one-on-one instruction.
