This week is dedicated to reading and will use small readers to focus on reading clues and answering comprehension questions.
Pre-literacy skills, learning to decode words, and tapping out sounds will be introduced to those students who are just beginning their reading journey. Campers will participate in fun reading groups where they will work on comprehension, fluency and decoding strategies through interactive games and activities. The workshop is designed to foster self-esteem, create enthusiasm for reading, and help fight the summer slump! Academy workshops are capped to ensure a small student to teacher ratio. Progress reports will be sent home on Friday identifying activities, strengths and areas for improvement.
