Jazz classes incorporate a variety of styles; the focus of this class is to continue building technique and expressiveness.
Dancers will work on turns, flexibility, leaps, kicks, choreography, center, and across-the-floor combinations. Students are encouraged to take ballet in conjunction with jazz; however, it is not required. Tap emphasizes specific movements to various beats. It is similar to other dance forms where specific movements need to be accomplished before moving to the next level. Students will focus on developing musicality and rhythm, while also increasing strength and coordination.
Students should have:
- Black Leotard (tank or spaghetti straps)
- Black boy short optional (must wear flesh colored convertible tights)
- Black split sole tap shoes and Tan slip on, split-sole jazz shoes
- Hair pulled out of face
