Experience golf as a new player or continue working on your golf technique. Each golfer will learn or fine tune the proper mechanics of the swing, long game, short game, and putting.
The goal of the class is for athletes to develop fundamental golf skills using hand-eye coordination, balance and timing, as well as learn golf etiquette and sportsmanship. Golf clubs will be provided using the SNAG Golf system. This exploration class will be held indoors in the gym.
Classes will focus on the following topics, and strategies:
Topics:
- Introduction to Golf
- Introduce the sport of golf and the basic rules.
- Teach proper grip and basic swing mechanics.
- Swing Fundamentals:
- Practice the basic golf swing, emphasizing a smooth backswing and follow-through.
- Introduce the concept of clubhead speed and impact.
- Use drills and games to reinforce proper swing mechanics.
- Short Game and Chipping:
- Teach the chipping technique, focusing on distance control and accuracy.
- Introduce the concept of loft and spin.
- Practice chipping to targets at varying distances.
- Putting:
- Teach the basic putting stroke, emphasizing a smooth, pendulum-like motion.
- Practice putting on different surfaces and distances.
- Introduce the concept of reading greens and adjusting stroke.
- Golf Etiquette and Course Awareness:
- Discuss the importance of golf etiquette, such as quiet during swings, repairing divots, and raking bunkers.
- Teach basic course awareness, including understanding hazards and out-of-bounds areas.
Teaching Strategies:
- Game-Based Learning: Use fun and engaging games to reinforce learning.
- Positive Reinforcement: Encourage and praise students’ efforts.
