Students develop an understanding of proofs and constructions as well as use algebra to analyze and solve problems.

In this course, students learn the concepts of two- and three-dimensional geometry as a logical mathematical system. Topics covered include points, lines, planes, angles, parallel and perpendicular lines, as well as planes, triangles, congruent figures, quadrilaterals, similarity, right triangles, trigonometry, circles, area and volume. Students develop an understanding of proofs and constructions, as well as use algebra to analyze and solve problems. Dynamic computer software is incorporated into the course to illustrate concepts and motivate the discovery of geometric ideas. Students will use a TI-Nspire CX graphing calculator.

Successful completion of this course will place the student in Algebra 2 for the subsequent school year.  It is not intended to put you on the honors track for Algebra 2.

This course is taught by Upper School Math teachers.

Prerequisite: A minimum grade of 85 and recommendation from Algebra I teacher
