Learning history is much more than names and dates. In this workshop, students will learn the skills necessary to read and understand information in their history and social studies classes.

In a small classroom environment, students will practice the ability to take effective notes, as well as ask and answer historical questions. Through hands-on activities and discussion, we will engage with a range of primary sources developing our skills of interpretation, analysis, and evaluation. Finally, this workshop will aid students in their ability to read for understanding and write clearly on social and historical topics. On Friday, Director of Parish Libraries, Alissa Cornelius, will lead students through the process of using library resources to identify viable research questions/topics, create reading lists for annotated bibliographies, and conduct research using both primary and secondary sources.
