In this class the students will skip, gallop and leap…stretch, crawl, wiggle and giggle.
The dancers will learn basic tap dance, which is a wonderful activity to nurture a sense of rhythm and timing. We introduce and teach basic ballet positions and movements. Dancers will learn the beginning steps of jazz and work on picking up choreography sequences that fuse together style and technique. A portion of this preschool class also allows the dancers to be able to freely experience their own moving body and find joy in dancing. We will end class with basic tumbling and balancing activities. This combination class is an introduction to ballet, tap, and jazz. Basic dance principles are introduced in a playful, creative manner while ensuring proper skill development for future training.
The 11th Annual Dance Academy performance will be held Saturday, May 13 at 10 a.m. in the Eller Theatre. The cost of the class includes student’s performance costume.
Please note students will not change clothes but should have pink split sole ballet shoes and slack tap shoes and have their hair pulled up out of face. Also note that while uniformity and proper dress are the norm in dance programs, the practicality of an after school dance program prioritizes dance time over changing time. It is simpler to begin and end class on time.
