From the enchanting Jungle of Nool to the lively Circus McGurkus, join the Cat in the Hat, our narrator, as he unfolds the tale of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust harboring tiny people known as the Whos. This whimsical journey includes Jojo, a Who child, facing trouble for thinking too many ‘thinks.’ Horton’s mission is twofold — safeguarding the Whos from naysayers and perils while also caring for an abandoned egg left in his charge by the carefree Mayzie La Bird. Despite ridicule, danger, kidnapping, and a trial, the resilient Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in Horton. In the end, the forces of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are put to the test and emerge triumphant!
Please Note: Auditions will take place on the first day of camp and all campers will be cast in the show. Each actor will be asked to sing one minute of a musical theatre song acapella and may be asked to read a scene from the script. Roles will be chosen on the first day and scripts will be sent home with each camper. Campers will be required to provide their own simple costume, and parents will receive inspiration images for each character the first week. Performances will take place at 5pm on June 27 and 28.
